TUH Connecting Employees To Thrive

TUH employees have just spent six weeks focusing on their physical wellbeing, completing Active Teams for the third time with provider Active & Thriving. Quick to recognise the shift in working arrangements caused by the global pandemic, TUH understood the value of providing an employee wellbeing program that keeps everyone connected.  Bernadette Hanly, Culture, Change & Communications Lead at TUH led the program and is very excited by the level of engagement and results.

“We first ran the Active & Thriving program in 2016 and have always loved the focus on teamwork and daily habits. Each year the program evolves and 2020 has been the best yet. With so many of our staff working from home, we needed a way to bring people together towards a common goal, despite the physical distance. Active Teams did just that and I am really excited by the engagement. I can’t wait for the October Thriving Minds program.”

The Active Teams program targets improvements in exercise, diet, sleep and water intake. The novel approach is centred around an action-based social platform, where teams of up to three people compete to be the most physically healthy team.

“The best part is seeing all the healthy and active photos people share,” said Bernadette. “Informal conversations and lunchtime walks with colleagues are the things we are missing, but this has allowed our team to connect socially with a little friendly competition” During the six-week challenge, TUH employees completed 933 exercise sessions,  shared 692 healthy meals and 330 mindfulness sessions in the 6-week program.

The Active & Thriving program implements evidence-based, outcome-measures to track employee health, allowing TUH to gain a better understanding of staff physical, mental and social wellbeing. Finishers reported increasing their physical activity levels by an amazing 112%, losing 2.1kg, eating more vegetables and collectively strengthening their physical, mental and social wellbeing.

Active & Thriving is an innovative program that uses mobile and web-based technology, combined with behaviour change theory. Wellbeing Director at Active & Thriving, Josh Marsden reported “Working with TUH has been great. As an organisation, they really value the health and wellbeing of their people and this leads to the great results we have seen. We are looking forward to continuing  to help support their employees to thrive.”
